Black Angels Over Tuskegee

We believe in the power of the arts to transform lives and ignite curiosity. We had the privilege of welcoming students from 8 local schools for a special field trip experience that left a lasting impression on everyone involved on March 4, 2024.

The highlight of the day was a powerful performance of "Black Angels Over Tuskegee," a dynamic production that sheds light on the incredible journey of the first aviators in the United States Army Air Forces amidst a backdrop of racial segregation and Jim Crow idealism. Vibrantly energetic and emotionally captivating, this performance continues to enlighten and educate audiences, and we were thrilled to share it with our young audience.

But the experience didn't stop with the performance. Following the show, the talented actors engaged in a thought-provoking Q&A session with the students, delving deeper into the themes and historical context of the production. It was incredible to witness the students' curiosity and enthusiasm as they asked insightful questions and shared their thoughts and reflections.

At Manship Theatre, we're committed to bringing talent from all over to provide dynamic learning experiences for kids in Baton Rouge and beyond. We believe that the arts have the power to inspire, educate, and spark meaningful conversations, and we're proud to play a role in empowering the next generation of learners and leaders.

Stay tuned for more magical moments ahead as we continue to bring the best of the arts to our community!
