Manship Theatre names New Executive Director

Jason Langlois has been named Manship Theatre’s new Executive Director starting in 2024. Jason

will succeed Melanie Couvillon who has led the theatre since 2017. Jason has been an integral part of the organization

since its inception in 2005. He brings a wealth of experience in theatre management with a strong background in

marketing, event planning, programming, and staff development. Jason graduated in 2006 from Louisiana State

University’s E.J. Ourso College of Business with a focus in Marketing. This background coupled with his deep

understanding of audience development and strategic planning have made him a vital part of the organization.

Jason Langlois will continue the legacy of Melanie Couvillon by nurturing the theatre's reputation for excellence in the

arts and fostering a strong connection with the community. Melanie Couvillon will be relocating to Houston, TX but will

remain a part of the Manship staff as Senior Advisor and Director of Programming.

“It has been an honor and privilege to be a part of this non-profit organization for 13 years,” says Couvillon. “I look

forward to working with Jason, the staff, and the Board of Directors in this new chapter for the theatre. Jason has a clear

understanding of the theatre’s unique role in the community. He has the fresh perspective needed to carry us into the

future.”

Jamie Watts, who is the current Chair of the Manship Theatre Board of Directors stated, “Manship Theatre’s leadership

transition is an exciting and positive development. The Board is confident in Jason as the new Executive Director and

looks forward to implementing his vision for the theatre. We appreciate Melanie’s years of tremendous service and her

commitment to support the Manship staff as Senior Advisor and Director of Programming.”
