Movie Synopsis
Where doesIn this bittersweet, classic musical drama, the vibrant and beautiful young Fanny Brice (Barbra Streisand) starts out as a bit player on the New York City vaudeville stage, but works her way up to stardom on Broadway. Valued for her vocal and comedic talents by the renowned theater impresario Florenz Ziegfeld (Walter Pidgeon), Fanny thrives, but her relationship with her suave, imprisoned businessman husband, Nick Arnstein (Omar Sharif), is another story.

Gene Callahan's Vision for Funny Girl: On loan from Louisiana Art and Science Museum
Academy Award winning Production designer and Baton Rouge native Gene Callahan painted his set designs as a part of his process of creating sets. These paintings offer a rare glimpse into the creative process behind one of Hollywood's most beloved movie musicals, revealing how color, compositions, and architectural detail were carefully planned long before filming began. Three of these beautiful pieces of original art are currently on display at Manship Theatre.
