Victor (Johnny Depp) and Victoria's (Emily Watson) families have arranged their marriage. Though they like each other, Victor is nervous about the ceremony. While he's in a forest practicing his lines for the wedding, a tree branch becomes a hand that drags him to the land of the dead. It belongs to Emily, who was murdered after eloping with her love and wants to marry Victor. Victor must get back aboveground before Victoria marries the villainous Barkis Bittern (Richard E. Grant).

Manship on the Move brings you a Manship Theatre stage at one of Baton Rouge’s most beloved and quirky art events: The Ogden Park Prowl. Rob Franklin has been named the recipient of the 19th annual Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence for his debut novel Great Black Hope. Franklin will be honored during the ceremony. The evening will celebrate his remarkable debut and pay tribute to the legacy of Ernest J. Gaines, whose body of work helped shape the landscape of American literature.

Things take a decidedly strange turn when the couple's baby turns out to be a bizarre lizard-like creature that won't stop wailing. Other characters, including a disfigured lady who lives inside a radiator, inhabit the building and add to Henry's troubles.

Master classes: Learn from the best
In Baton Rouge, the opportunity to learn from masters in the craft of performing arts is even greater due to our creative lineup of programs at Manship Theatre. Our Master classes put you in the presence of the finest performers, instructors, and artists in performing arts who will demonstrate and educate guests of all levels on the tools and techniques used by the greats. Field trips and family programming
We are proud to partner with area schools to offer unique theatrical experiences to students. Through our field trip program, hundreds of students are able to experience professional performances in our theatre each year.
